The Place ~ The ever popular Discotheque, "Studio 64" ~ New York City
The Era ~ 1970's
The Victim ~ Danny DiLorenzo (aka Disco Dan)
President Nixon releases the Watergate tapes and ultimately reigns, Henry Aaron breaks Babe Ruth's homerun record, Patty Hearst joins the Symbionese Liberation Army, Jimmy Hoffa disappears, and gambling is permitted in Atlantic City, NJ. Welcome to the 70's ~ to the world of designer jeans, fondue, CB radios, Rubick's Cube, the "Hustle" and the dancing days of Disco!!.....which brings us to our story ~
It was a rainy Saturday night and, despite the weather, it was standing room only at Studio 64. The sparkling disco ball was spinning high above the crowd of excited dancers. One might say the dance floor was pulsating with disco madness! Why all the excitement? What's happening momma? Well, it was just the biggest dance contest of all times !! The grand prize?...the winning couple will be invited to dance up a storm on the live TV show, "Dance Frenzy", AND will also receive ~
ONE MILLION DOLLARS! ~ $1,000,000 !!
So what happened?
Danny DiLorenzo and his girl, Tabbi Kanooka, were shoe-ins to win the contest, everyone knew that for a fact. After all, Danny and Tabbi had actually auditioned for parts in the hit movie, "Disco Will NEVER Die!"…AND their talents excelled resulting in a call back. Unfortunately, Tabbi's mother, Estelle Kanooka, took the phone call and never passed on that message…and their big chance for dancing stardom was lost forever…that is, UNTIL NOW.
Tell us more
While Tabbi was at the hairdresser dolling up for the big night, Danny received an odd call from Mrs. Kanooka. She informed Danny that Tabbi had suddenly taken ill. Mrs. Kanooka went on to say Tabbi wouldn't be able to make it to the contest after all…but not to worry, she had the perfect replacement - a most talented dancer who was just dying to hit the floor with him. Mrs. Kanooka told Danny that he was to meet his new partner in front of Big Bobby's Bagel Shop. Danny asked to speak to Tabbi but Mrs. Kanooka lied and said Tabbi was asleep. Upset and disappointed, Danny agreed to meet the mystery dancer but alas, it wasn't too long after their infamous meeting that Danny's body was discovered in front of the bagel shop…and it wasn't Saturday night fever that killed him. So now it's time to polish those dancing shoes, get out the leisure suits and flowing dresses, and get ready for an evening of mystery, masquerade and, of course, DISCO DEMISE !
